Pile driving began on July 1 at the Willits Bypass Project along the viaduct.  Piles are used to help provide a solid foundation for structures such as the cement columns that will support the viaduct.

Geoffrey Wright, Caltrans Resident Engineer overseeing the construction of the Willits Bypass Project, said, “Caltrans’ mission is to ‘Improve Mobility Across California’, and we are making progress to build this bypass which will help improve mobility through Willits and the region.”

This is an important milestone which underscores Caltrans’ commitment to this important interregional transportation project, scheduled for completion in the fall of 2016.
